Message TL;DR Version: NA Z drives fine under all conditions up to about 4000 rpm, but when under full load or load at high speed, rpm hesitates, sounds boggy, no power. Want to know where to start looking.

-----------------------------------------

Hey guys, on Friday my daily driver got destroyed by a hit-run, and I only had one-way so I was in the market for another.

My goal was low maintenance daily driver, so that's why I jumped when I saw a NA Z that I could pay off in my budget.. 1994 super clean exterior, 2008 z wheels, kind of high mileage at 199k, but at $3000.

test drove it around town fine, no leaks or noises, breaks good, no wobble/steers.. for the price, was happy to drive it around for a DD.

Here's the suck part- I failed to do the pedal to the metal test before signing the paperwork (used car dealer), so on the way home I hopped on the freeway and immediately noticed that when I floored it on the onramp, something was very wrong.

-When pedal is pushed to full load, the rpms shoot up but the car does not pull, and starts to bog/hesitate.

-Letting go of the pedal and easing on, the car behaves normally again, but every time I put decent pressure on the pedal, the car does not want to follow.

It was already after closing time when all was said and done at the dealer, so they were closed already and the dude I talked to did not pick up or answer my messeges.

Now- are any of these symptoms a cause of $$$big concern? am I looking at major engine/transmission issues?

or does it sound more of a spark plug/ecu/sensor issue?

also- if anyone is in the bay area California and would possibly like to help out, I will be happy to meet up and give reasonable compensation.

(I used to own a 1991 ttz, did a lot of work on it motor swap, clutch, etc.. with the help of following articles on Z, but have no real knowledge of the technical aspects.. but am willing to get my hands dirty. In the end I put off my dreams of owning a real ttz until I have at least a decent career to fund it)
